Over the years, Adwords has been one of the most popular adtech solutions for reaching your customers as they are searching for a solution. But what you may not know is that Google Adwords does not allow every type of product from running a campaign on their system.
Google is in a rather unique and rare position; its power and ubiquity is such that it can choose to reject whole sub-genres of advertising for its Adwords platform, even if the products being advertised aren’t illegal.
These 17 products and services have been banned from advertised on Google.
Pay day loans
Long understood to be predatory because of their short lifetime and generally exorbitant interest rate, the payday loan is the most recent addition to Google’s banned advertising list. As of July 13, 2016, Google will no longer accept ads for loans due within 60 days or which have an interest rate of 36% or greater.
Though ostensibly a fairly common recreational activity, particularly among young men, paintball guns have the potential to inflict serious bodily harm if misused. Google has decided to err on the side of caution when it comes to such weapons; the ban covers airsoft and BB guns in addition to paintball guns.
