to Howdy Doody, who is the 'we' that does not count football (soccer) a game? I'm not sure who you are referring to. To not count it a game is ridiculous, it is a game by any standards, as much as baseball or american football are games. And dave, to call it a 'stupid 3rd world communist sport" is also ridiculous, the fact is that it is played everywhere, just so happens to be not as much in the USA who have (somewhat uniquely) decided to specialize in their own insular sports. There are plenty of rich European countries, some with a higher GDP per capita than the USA, that are heavily involved with it. It's culture related, not poverty related.

To Guille,

We do not count Soccer (you may call it football)a game. And the money you are talking about may be his potential earnings in endorsemets etc.

And same to Bertil we do not count Soccer a game.

"Shin guards and yellow cards are for sissies and floppers". jesus have you even watched american football they might as well give the players a protective cage to play in with the amount of safty gear they use. try watching rugby its a real sport.

"wtf??? what about soccer. Manchester city wants to buy Kaka for 150,000,000. that beats everything here."

Sorry Evan, looks like no one in America gives a crap about 3rd-world communist sports like soccer. Home runs, fast cars, touchdowns, & slam dunks - that's what we want. Shin guards and yellow cards are for sissies and floppers.

kaka's contract translates to $199 million if he accepted which he didn't. that's still no where near A-Rod's contract of $275 million which is insane.
