Noah Kagan has the latest carnival of the capitalists. It's… um… well, Jay and I like to let the hosts do their thing. And of course I have no problem with hosts calling out their favorite posts. I also don't have a problem with other carnivals that limit their posts to a handful of the *best* entries. But the purpose of the original CotV, and the original purpose of the CotC, was to give readers exposure to bloggers that you may not normally read. A vague link dump doesn't really serve that purpose very well. Sure, I understand that some people have started to manipulate carnivals by always submitting a post, even if they don't have anything good, but there are always a few bad apples.
And anyway, the other reason to give all posts fair representation is that not everyone likes the same thing. For instance, I got way more out of this post than I did this one – which was labeled a top post. But that's just me.
