Amazon.com has unveiled a new fleet of branded truck trailers that will be responsible for hauling packages from the company’s massive fulfillment centers.
The e-commerce giant said Friday it purchased “thousands” of the trailers that feature the Amazon Prime logo.
The trailers will roll out to increase the company’s capacity for package deliveries from fulfillment centers to sort centers, where Amazon sorts deliveries by zip code before sending them off to post offices.
The company plans to continue its use of third-party companies to operate the tractor-trailers.
The new Amazon Prime trailers were unveiled during an event in Chicago where employees were preparing 2,000 care packages for soldiers overseas.
The packages, which include Fire tablets, were loaded onto one of Amazon’s new trailers.
