Jeremy has a great post asking should Apple get out of the PC market? He gives some reasons to support both sides, but I'll let you read them on your own instead of quoting them here. What do I think? Apple shouldn't just drop it, but after years of being an also-ran, they should seriously consider moving their resources into other things and over the long-term make PCs less of a focus.
