I can agree with the caption of the blog, but thats where it ends. Atracting girls only matters and really looks important only for a small amount of time. The factor of being an enterpreneur might seem cool to people, but if that is exciting them it means that have it in them to become one someday. .So u can encourage them rather than quoting it as a dumb idea.. Be a real enterpreneur.

Entrepreneurs are hot. Seriously: my husband is starting up a business making cases for wind instruments. So it's not exactly YouTube; we're probably not gonna get rich. But it's been years since I've seen him so excited. Let's face it--women are wired to respond to driven men.

Before pushing your son in that direction, remember that it was the *appearance* of all of those things that these guys were pursuing to meet chicks.

No actual calories were harmed in the making of this "business".

Now that I think about it, perhaps some other alumni of the business-for-chicks school went on to run Enron. And WorldCom. And Tyco. Yeah, especially Tyco.

I must admit,it was a nice article to read Rob. Entrepreneurship is the new trend but starting up a business, running it and making it successful is not an easy job I can say and not many people are good at it.

Wow, that's an incredible story indeed. All these years and I never thought to leverage bars as logical places to pick up hot beta testers!

I'm a college student working as an engineer, and looking into start a business soon (used car flipping, very sexy right?). My impression is that the start-up ideas you mentioned are simply something somewhat interesting to talk about with girls, nothing extraordinary. Most of my peers (1st and 2nd years) are not really interested in business or work, so I think you've got anecdotal evidence more than anything. And I'm certainly not impressed by any sexy business ideas unless you're actually using them to make earnings and turn a profit. So, no, I don't think anyone is going to be impressed with start-up ideas any more than if you're a baseball player or something like that...

Given the number of developers / programmers / creatives that I know that maintain a web site for their "consulting company" that never seems to do any work, this really isn't that surprising. Self-employment is a bit of a status symbol these days.

Full disclosure - I had one of the consulting companies...
