Are Music Sales Down Due to File Sharing…

… or are people listening to less music? According to this chart (from Fortune magazine Sept. 15, 2003

people are spending ALOT less time listening to music. Why hasn't this been brought up as a possible reason for lower CD sales?

Sorry I clipped the x-axis off the bottom. The graph starts in 1997, with music peaking in 1999. 2003 is right in the middle, and the graph projects on into 2007.
