I hope that this is not true. Supposedly Bush spoke this to the Palestinean Prime Minister:
According to Abbas, immediately thereafter Bush
said: "God told me to strike at al Qaida and I
struck them, and then he instructed me to
strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am
determined to solve the problem in the Middle
East. If you help me I will act, and if not,
the elections will come and I will have to
focus on them."
It is tough for me to picture him saying that, and I can see where Abbas could misunderstand him, or flat out fabricate something about him. But if Bush thinks he is on a "mission from God" or something, I'll help stop that with my vote in 2004. His protectionist trade policies and failure to reign in government spending are already grating me the wrong way. The Republican party is supposed to be about free trade, less government and more individual liberty. Now let's see some of that!
