What are the guidelines/principles that would be used to distinguish "fair" and "non-fair" practices?

Thank you for your kind words to students "The ones who didn’t know can only cross their fingers and hope for the best". GMAC should try to come up with an alternative that does not punish the innocent and there is no way to completely find out who was innocent and who wasn't. Ruining career is an immature way to handle this problem and I am ashamed to even think that an organization like GMAC can even think of taking such a step. The punishment given to these students can never be same in magnitude. So are you telling me that people who have graduated will have their gmat scores cancelled? How does that make any difference to them because they already have their certificate. As for people who are in enrolled in B schools right now or trying to get into schools, their life has been turned into a nightmare with these preposterous statements made by reporters. Thanks for making this even more complicated than it already is.
