Cost, Productivity, and Marathons

Kevin over at Truck and Barter (he's moved off blogspot so update your bookmarks) has a very cool post on why some costs go up faster than inflation. He discusses why some industries can't have labor productivity increases, and includes some interesting commentary on decreasing marathon times.

I trained for a marathon a little over a year ago and got hurt when my long-runs were in the 22 mile range. Now I am back around 12 miles for a long run, and taking it much slower this time.
