There are two things I am usually against. One is growth just for growth's sake – since it tends to lead companies into areas where they have no competitive advangtage. The other is diversification, since it often leads to the same problem. But I think Dell's decision to diversify is a good move. Dell is a nimble company with great inventory management and good cash flow, and if they can apply those principles to other consumer electronics, I expect them to be as successful as they have been with PCs.
