I meant to link to this article yesterday, but got sidetracked. Now Mike O'Sullivan has an excellent discussion of it already posted, so I'll just refer you all there. I mean it. The article and Mike's analysis are both awesome. My only beef is that I wouldn't say shareholders come third, I would just say that the long-term needs of the shareholders come before the short-term needs, and by focusing on customers and employees when making decisions, long-term shareholder value will automatically be maximized.
