Facebook on Wednesday started rolling out some new options meant to complement its famous “Like” button.
Now when commenting on a Facebook post users can “Love” a post, or add such emotions as “Haha, Wow, Sad, and Angry” faces.
The five new Facebook buttons are meant to allow users to respond in new emotive ways.
Anyone who uses Facebook can now choose from these “Reactions” on top of liking, commenting or sharing something.
If you’re on your phone, the new buttons appear after you hold down the Like button.
If you’re on a computer, you’ll see them when you hover your mouse over the Like button.
Facebook researchers, engineers and product teams have spent more than a year preparing Reactions for launch.
The social network consulted with sociologists, focus groups, and conducted surveys to determine the emotions most likely to be used by Facebook users.
The company also examined its most popular stickers and emojis for clues as to what users wanted in a new reactions system.
Facebook Reactions were already being tested in Spain, Ireland, Chile, the Philippines, and several other test countries.
According to Facebook, the most popular Reaction so far is “Love.”
You should see the new Facebook Reactions options in your account now. Make sure to update your mobile app.
