Thanks for another useful piece on how to make money using the web and your "Three Fs" principles, which seem to have worked great for many previous entrepreneurs.

Another variable: Underserved niche markets. For instance my business, TweekGeek.com is taking advantage of a current trend in the high end electronics industry. Many brick and mortar audio shops are closing down due to competition from internet retailers and large, high volume brick and mortars like Best Buy. This has left audiophiles stranded in many areas of the country. Their tastes are far beyond what Best Buy and most internet retailers will accomodate, and they are too busy to drive 6 or more hours to a retailer to audition product.

The difficulty is many high end audio manufacturers are not aware of this share of the market being left on the table. They will not allow "internet sales" of their product because they are convinced that it will hurt their brand.

I have struck a compromise with my vendors. They allow me to sell into territories that are not covered by their brick and mortar dealers. I maintain the brand image by not slashing prices, and providing services that most internet retailers simply cannot.

I have a day job and I built my site on Joomla. My actual cost is less than $200 and I enjoy working on the site.

With zero marketing (I haven't told about it to more than a dozen friends), the site gets some subscribers every day and that makes me happy enough.

I believe that the site has a lot of potential in India but really do not have any clue about the future.
I don't know where I fit in your post, though it has given me some clue what I can do with my site. Thanks
