Faxing To The Future [Infographic]

When was the last time you sent a fax? To be fair, if you’re in the business world you probably send faxes on a regular basis.  Though there are certainly many people out there who don’t see a reason to still use fax in the age of email, there are several legitimate reasons to send a fax over an email.

That doesn’t mean you need to hold on to that dinosaur fax machine with onion skin paper anymore, though.

There’s a new fax kid in town- cloud faxing uses existing computers and internet connections to send a message securely.

Back in the 1980s when there was no such things as a little bit of Aqua Net, fax machines were big and slow.  At first you had to cut your fax into pieces after it printed in a huge long roll.  Then plain paper fax machines and dedicated fax lines came along and made things much easier.  Apparently many people decided that was enough innovation because not much changed until electronic cloud faxing came along.  Now all you need is an internet-enabled device to send a secure message to anyone with a fax machine or fax app.

Many businesses adopt the old “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” attitude about office equipment and procedures.  But what many people don’t realize is the major time savings you can have from electronic faxing- whereas it might take 5 minutes to print out a traditional fax, electronic faxes download as fast as your internet connection will allow.  There’s also less likelihood of your sensitive data reaching an unintended target, which is very important in healthcare when privacy compliance is the law.

Electronic cloud faxing is also considerably less costly than using a traditional fax machine.  Have you ever priced toner cartridges?  Paper and toner alone can put many businesses out of business.  Cloud faxing is only as expensive as whatever app you are using- you’re already paying for the internet connection.  There are no long distance charges with cloud faxing- important if you are doing business nationally or internationally.  Cutting out all that paper and extra electricity is also better for the environment!

Many industries still need to send faxes, but they don’t necessarily need fax machines.  The healthcare industry is a big one- fax is more secure than email, which keeps offices in compliance with HIPAA.  Legal practices are also bound by privacy laws, as are financial institutions.  Wherever you need to protect a client’s personal information fax is going to be more secure and therefore preferable to email.

Learn more about the future of faxing from this infographic.  There’s no longer any need to purchase special equipment for most office and business functions.  As long as you have a computer with internet access you can do everything through the cloud!  It’s more cost-efficient, environmentally friendly, convenient, and secure to fax through the cloud than to send email or use a dinosaur fax machine.  Are you ready to get with the times?
