I listen to a lot of classic rock and a lot of 80s. We actually have a station here on the Space Coast called "Generation X Radio" that I love. Anyway, there is a song I have heard and liked for years, but I could never understand the words. We heard it on GenX radio the other day while driving, and I thought the first words of the chorus were "livi divi the days…" but Mrs. Businesspundit insisted it was "Kerry give me the laser…"
Can you guess the song?
Well after it was over the dj said mister mister, so I thought he was being stupid. I decided tonight to find out what it was. After about an hour on Google and KissthisGuy I finally searched for "down the road that I must travel", and found out the song is "Kyrie" by Mr. Mister.
Kyrie – Mr. Mister
Kyrie eleison, kyrie eleison, kyrie
The wind blows hard against this mountain side
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road
My heart is old, it holds my memories
My body burns a gemlike flame
Somewhere between the soul and soft machine
Is where I find myself again
Kyrie eleison, down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison, where I'm going will you follow
Kyrie eleison, on a highway in the light
When I was young I thought of growing old
Of what my life would mean to me
Would I have followed down my chosen road
Or only wished what I could be
Of course my next question was what the hell does "Kyrie eleison" mean? But I found that quickly. It is Latin for "Lord have mercy."
Ahhh, the satisfaction of finally knowing.
