This is interesting. Real estate company Zillow is sponsoring a new "carnival of real estate." To my knowledge, no carnival has been associated with a corporate sponsor before (although we briefly talked with a popular biz magazine about the CotC). Here is Zillow's stance on their involvement.
Lastly, a quick word on Zillow's involvement in the Carnival of Real Estate — to my knowledge, this is the first blog carnival founded by a corporate blog (yes, we like to be first). Zillow.com has agreed to sponsor the costs of the home blog but has no ownership or say over the constituents or the content of the Carnival of Real Estate. We just think it will benefit the industry — Zillow Blog is proud to be the founding member of the Carnival of Real Estate — but this is a carnival for EVERYONE in the real estate industry — we just went ahead and set it up. Enjoy.
It looks like Zillow "gets it." They aren't trying to control everything, but just help move it all along. The carnival could be a valuable service to the blogosphere and those into real estate. Nice work, and I'll be very interested to see how this turns out over the next few months.
