I love this idea...I just bought a house and will be getting that $8,000.00 and when i get it I plan on putting right in to this cash for caulkers.....I'm new to owning a house and I don't exactly know what to look for when weather proofing.....this just makes sense for me since I have the money for it and this winter as been particularly brutle with cold temperatures and its effect on my heating system

I think you have to consider more than the tax and financial elements of this program. There are more than 100 million homes in the US that could be made much more efficient with very little investment. Not only would this create jobs, reduce energy bills and make drafty homes more comfortable for homeowners, but it would also increase safety (energy audits test for harmful gases, proper ventilation, and air quality problems caused by moisture and duct leaks), reduce demand for energy from power plants, and it would reduce greenhouse gases. I know the financial piece is very important to consider, but those are good things to consider too, right?
