The main players in this sad saga are Jorge Paulo Lehmann (dual Swiss/Brazilian national), Carlos Sicupira, and Marcos Telles. They're coporae Raiders in true 80's tradition. Buy, spinoff and sell, enriching themselves and making AB (et all) poorer. Sicupira ia a Wharton trained Financial whiz. Will do Jorge Paulo's bidding. Marcos, is the legal watchdog. InBev is registered in Belgium...a short drive from Berne, Switzerland. All Jorge Paulo's assets are ensconced in Switerland...why does't US SEC do it's due diligence? This is another one of Jorge Paulo's triumphs. His others are retail outlets in Brazil (underperforming), a Brazilian investment company(went broke) and several smaller "front businesses" [microempresas] around Brazil(Jorge uses them to "invest" profits from his legit operations). AB will be different(smaller or inexpressive). China's beverage market will be different (spinoffs). Only Jorge's stake in Brazil's beverage market will remain because of Brazil's lax laws and corporate/government connivances.

this deal has nothing to do with the American customer. it is very sad. it is a sad day for America as a foreign interest now has a pretty big stake in american economy. let's hope it's not too big for their own good

I really think SEC should get in the middle of this deal...not creating a monopoly, but a duopoly like you put it, it doesn't make sense...

Either that or every American should choose with their money and not buy those products, buy instead craft brews which are much tastier anyway. (Not trying to bring close-mindedness-Americanism, but seriously, this deal does not seem to benefit the American consumer)
