This article claims that businesses shy away from hiring ex-military, and instead look for someone with more industry experience. I think this is a mistake. As the Information Age continues to unfold, I think experience will become less important because knowledge and information will be easier to access. Personality traits will matter much more than they do now, and cross-disciplinary thinking will become more important. The CEO position boils down to two things - leadership and strategy, two things military officers have in abundance. Companies should be careful not to overlook these excellent candidates.
