Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth is increasing very quickly.
On Tuesday, Facebook shares continued to push upwards, allowing Zuckerberg to pass Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and become the fifth richest person in the world.
His new wealth placement arrives less than a week after he passed Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison as the world’s six richest person.
Zuckerberg is now worth an estimated $50 billion. Forbes believes Bezos is worth $48.9 billion.
Zuckerberg is now breathing down the neck of Mexican business magnate Carlos Slim, the man who claimed the richest person in the world spot from 2010 to 2013.
He still has a long way to go before he catches philanthropist Bill Gates, who is worth $75.6 billion according to Forbes.
Last week Facebook released its quarterly earning’s report and exceeded expectations on Wall Street. Facebook’s stock has risen over 21% since that report was released on January 27.
Zuckerberg in the meantime is back at Facebook after two months of paternity leave.
The company recently announced that its WhatsApp acquisition has paid off to the tune of 1 billion users, and it’s preparing to launch its first virtual reality headset in the form of the Oculus Rift.
