Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth just passed the Koch brothers

Mark Zuckerberg personal wealth

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is now richer than the Koch brothers.

Zuckerberg’s wealth increased by $6 billion Thursday after Facebook reported a stellar quarter with record revenue.

That increase in stock price grew Zuckerberg’s fortune to $47.5 billion or No. 6 on Bloomberg’s list of the wealthiest people in the world.

Zuckerberg surged past Charles and David Koch, the men responsible for conglomerate Koch Industries. The Koch’s are each worth $45.9 billion.

Zuckerberg has a long way to go before catching up to the top business owners on the list. Bill Gates is still the world’s richest man with $7 billion, followed by Amancio Ortega ($69.7 billion), Warren Buffet ($59.4 billion), Jeff Bezos ($55.8 billion, and Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim with $48.6 billion.

Zuckerberg continues to pad his massive wealth even as global stock markets fall of a cliff. The world’s seven wealthiest people have already lost $19 billion this month.
