Known Dowd "Corrections" 2008-2009

Correction: May 18, 2009
Failed to credit Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo, effectively plagiarizing a 42 word paragraph.

Correction: July 29, 2008
A quote attributed to General Petraeus “is in error as he never made nor would make such a statement.”

Correction: July 3, 2008
Cited without attribution an erroneous pool report that said Obama refused to fist bump a boy at a campaign stop.

Correction: April 23, 2008
Described Obama as appearing "awkward" in accepting bowling shoes from Bob Casey, an event which never happened.

No Correction: January 9, 2008
Used dateline of "Derry, NH" when she was physically in Jerusalem. Used quotes from a Hillary Clinton victory party that were apparently solicited by Dowd's assistant, as if these were her own conversations.

Is it possible that someone else actually writes the column? Maybe someone else used the blogger's words and Dowd wasn't on top of it. The words are awfully similar to have traveled blog-to-mouth-to-hand as the explanation states.

Sure, but isn't the important thing here that it reached a broader audience? What's more important? To get people thinking? Or to credit the blogger? (Sure, the latter is important too, but it looks like efforts are being made to address that.)

One advantage the neocons had was they worked hard to stay in the same tent, peeing out. They always kept their eye on the ball. "Liberals" (aka "Moderates") are the ones who dilute their arguments by squabbling amongst themselves.

No one likes to be plagiarized. It's happened to me enough to know first hand. But that said, the important thing here is to get as broad an audience thinking about this as possible.
