UPDATE: If you submit something after reading this post, it should be a link to a post, not a link to your blog homepage.

The "best of" the business blogosphere is something that has always interested me. It was part of the reason Jay and I started the Carnival of the Capitalists, but in this day of carnivals, aggregators, and all that other stuff, one thing is missing. Timelessness. It's easy to find the best posts of the day or week, but what about the best posts of all time? These are hard to find, even in Google. Some could argue that the best posts have the most incoming links, rank higher, yada, yada, but I think for terms like "Accounting", you are unlikely to ever find the best posts via a search engine.

So, a year and a half ago I bought a domain to solve this problem. It's finally developed, and you can check it out at MBA-by-Blog.com. It is intended to be a directory of the best and most educational business blog posts of all time. Some of you will say that hyphenated domains are never a good choice, but if I ran them together as mbabyblog, it could be read as "M Baby Blog", and that doesn't really mean anything. So I chose a domain to make it clear.

I really see two uses of this site. First of all, to learn. Use it to find good posts on a topic, read them and learn about various topics. Secondly, as post resources. When writing about a topic you can always link to the appropriate section (for example, Be More Innovative), or scroll through to find some good posts to use for blog fodder.

There are some other cool features, like the ability to leave comments, which may eventually get turned off if we have a spam problem, and the ability to vote on posts within a category.

How do you get your post linked on the site? Scroll to the appropriate category and then click "suggest link." You may have to set the category drop down twice, once for the main category and once for the subcategory. I'm working to change that. Then our editors will review it and approve it. We aren't looking for short cheesy top 10 lists. Write those for SEO traffic, not for this directory.* We are looking for posts that have some depth, are educational, and are interesting.

Feel free to scroll through your archives and submit your best post(s), or suggest new categories. I always struggle with taxonomies, so defining this one was the hardest part of this project for me.

To Become an Editor
I will need some help. If you would like to be an editor, and can login once a week and read a few posts to determine if they are quality, let me know (send me email please). Obviously, this gives you some power to get your own posts in the directory as well, so I am looking for people that will not abuse that privilege, and can be reasonably fair. This site isn't a money making site, so there is no pay, but you will be doing something nice for the business blogosphere, and may get some good blogkarma.

I've added 22 posts to seed the site, but it would take me months to go through all the good blogs and find all the posts that should be contributed, so please submit anything you think should be included.

Feel free to send me comments, thoughts, and ideas on the site.

*actually, this directory is good for your SEO, because it is a directory with "deep links"

An excellent idea. The home page needs someting, though…having just the category list may not be enough to get the casual reader to dive in. How about highlighting a “post of the week” (or of the month, or whatever) to give people something to feast their eyes on immediately?
