what does reading the book equip me to do that I couldn't do without it? I think most people buy & read b-books as "self-help", and not for enlightenment / entertainment And perhaps this is naive, but I placed too high a value on the fact that Seth wrote the Foreword

Maybe the book needs to be positioned differently - most succesful b-books are either DIY or Bio's. They either equip you with a single new "tool" to that makes you better at management ... or ... they tell the story of some-one whose business results are famous. More-space is marketted as ... a "cool" project by popular bloggers ... but what does reading the book equip me to do that I couldn't do without it? I think most people buy & read b-books as "self-help", and not for enlightenment / entertainment - if you are looking to adress the mass-b-book-market you need to reposition more-space. The b-book blockbusters are those books that become "deemed" to dispense competitive advantage - i.e. if you don't read this book, you'll get passed over at the next promotion cycle - that's the reputation you want for more-space to become a business best-seller.

You overestimated the power of the blogosphere (the BS as I recently saw it called)? Undoubtedly. But it's often through "overvaluing" that one finds out what's hype and what's the next big thing. That's why a smart strategy is "be first to be second." Let others make expensive mistakes and learn from them.

Rob - Asking for ideas and advice is a great idea. I think you are right - we overvalued the blogosphere in terms of interest turning into purchases. And unlike my other books, I have not heard feedback - good or bad - about the book from my blog readers.

And perhaps this is naive, but I placed too high a value on the fact that Seth wrote the Foreword - I thought that would make a bigger impact on exposure and interest.
