Netflix and Sylvester Stallone have teamed up for “Ultimate Beastmaster,” an obstacle course competition that will include competitors from six countries.
While it will be a single competition event there will be six versions of the show which feature local hosts and languages. The show will take place in the United States, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany.
Netflix will promote the show as a “global competition,” but with local flair.
Contestants will compete in a difficult obstacle course called “The Beast.” The show is being bills by some publications as a mix between the popular TV shows ‘Wipeout’ and ‘American Ninja Warrior.’
Sylvester Stallone will be one of the producers on the show. He will also be “featured” on the show in some fashion, although Netflix didn’t say how or when he will appear.
Producers for the show starting seeking out contestants for “Ultimate Beastmaster” in February and taping began last month.
Netflix will release 10 episodes of the show simultaneously. The streaming company has not announced a release date for the show at this time.
Terry Crews and Charissa Thompson will host the show in the United States. There are five other sets of hosts for the other local editions.
Stallone called it a “revolutionary concept” in a release sent out on Monday.
The move follows closely with Netflix’s strategy of releasing original series’ that will allow it to compete with network and cable TV stations.
