Well I am back, and I did get about 20 minutes of web access while I was gone. I could write a forever long post about all the bad stuff that happened, but let me summarize. I went up there to do some software upgrades and a tech who went with me had to adjust some foam padding on some proprietary equipment. Now, I don't know a lot about this software and I didn't write it and I probably wasn't the person to send, except that I have no kids and am probably one of the most flexible people at work, so when they needed someone to go on 36 hours notice, they picked me. I was there for two days, to do a total of about 4 hours worth of work. Of course, nothing was ready and the first day I accomplished zilch (they couldn't find some of the equipment). I got to do a little this morning, then the rest of the equipment came about 1.5 hours before I had to leave to catch my plane back. So, I got to work right down to the buzzer. It was kind of exciting, but mostly it was aggravating. Of course, this is part of a government job so you taxpayers got to foot my plane and hotel bill, plus two days work for the 3 hours worth of work I really did. Actually, I should of just sent the files up there and had the customer put on the new software, but that isn't the way the government likes to do things. Five people had to sign off and inspect and certify everything. And people wonder why the government budget is out of control…
