Practice Practice Practice

I took off early Tuesday to head up to Cincy for the Jimmy Buffett concert. Needless to say I didn't blog yesterday because I had one too many Margaritas Tuesday night. I felt like hell Wednesday.

Anyway, I did make it to a local venture club meeting yesterday with three companies presenting who were looking for funding. After the first company was finished, a VC at my table leaned over to the guy next to him and said "five minutes of that and I still don't know what his company does." Two of the three presentations were really bad. And they weren't bad in the sense that the presenter was just nervous. These guys were very professional, they just talked in circles around their business and were very unclear about some major issues. My advice to would-be entrepreneurs – practice. It often seems like a waste of time to keep revising a business plan or presentation when we have so many more important things to do, but you have to play the game and a good presentation is what they want to see.
