Rob
I'm remided of a clinic I took over when I was working in Germany. The support staff was killing themselves trying to meet every potential need of higher organization management.

The prior manager's solution to every problem was more hours in the office. The thing I remember the most is how tired the people looked and how poor they were performing.

I know it is a cliche to say you need to find balance between work and home, to include sleep, but after four months of enforced work/home balance, I had family members commenting to me how much happier their spouse was. Additionally, we started getting people promoted for superior performance.

Balance is such an improtatn part of both organizational and indivdual success. I'm glad to hear you're finding that blance for yourself.

Take care...

John

I've witnessed organizations that push their people to the breaking point. Many of these same organizations conduct preventative maintenance on their production processes, but fail to allow for the same regeneration for their people. How ironic - and how said. Can it be said that fresh people create fresh ideas?
