I wrote a post a few months about about problems in the healthcare industry, and how to fix them. Now, it seems that the industry is finally embracing new technology. Keep in mind here that they are doing this to for their own profit motives, not out of the goodness of their hearts. But I think this kind of change will lead to lower healthcare costs for everyone in the long-run.
The main problem with the healthcare industry is inefficieny. Investing in new technology systems will help to fix that. It won't solve everything, since healthcare suffers from some unique problems. But since the industry is WAY behind in adopting new technologies (with respect to information, not treatment) I expect to see big cost savings as this movement spreads.
