Tequila is becoming an increasing popular alcoholic beverage in the United States. Over the last 10 years sales of the popular beverage have doubled, according to Bloomberg.
In 2005 Americans spent $1.2 billion a year on tequila, in 2015 the figure had skyrocketed to $2.3 billion.
Tequila has doubled its sales thanks to the rise of the cocktail culture in the US. As liquor has become more trendy, an increasing number of mixed drinks are adding to sales.
As a result, premium tequila increased its volume by 651% in 13 years.
While expensive premium tequila’s are starting to explode their sales in the United States, lower cost alternatives are also rapidly increasing sales.
“By offering both well-aged High End and Super Premium products, as well as affordable Value brands, tequila is accessible to all Americans,” writes the Distilled Spirits Council of the US in a report.
There doesn’t appear to be any slowing the sales of tequila and that’s good news for consumers who are always searching for new products to explore.
