This is BIG news! Microsoft loses a multimillion euro deal with the city of Munich, and Linux claims a huge victory for desktops.
"You can compare this to the fall of the Berlin Wall," said Richard Seibt, Chief Executive of Linux software provider Suse. Suse is bidding for the Linux contract together with International Business Machines Corp.
Well, maybe not as big as Seibt thinks but if you have been following this, it is a huge slap in the face to Microsoft. Ballmer himself was in on the sales pitch, so it was a big deal.
