“The Trojan network is the product; the degree is the membership card.”

Scorecard
Four pillars, weighted into the BP ScoreOur review
Marshall’s core asset predates every ranking: the Trojan network, a Southern California institution whose willingness to hire its own borders on nepotism and functions as career insurance. Students describe alumni outreach success rates that other schools’ career offices would frame.
The portfolio has gone format-diverse with conviction. The online MBA ranks fourth globally in the Financial Times table at $129,900; the MS in Business Analytics feeds LA’s entertainment-and-commerce data economy; and the one-year IBEAR MBA serves mid-career internationals a format almost nobody else offers. The full-time MBA itself runs small at about 200 students, with median 2025 base pay of $150,000.
Weaknesses concentrate at the elite margin: MBB and bulge-bracket hiring stays light, 83% three-month placement trailed the 2025 peer set, and USC’s sticker undercuts the value story that public rivals tell. The network narrows sharply outside Southern California.
What impressed us
- Trojan network. Alumni hiring loyalty that borders on statutory.
- Format breadth. FT's No. 4 online MBA and a market-fit MSBA.
- LA industry mix. Entertainment, consumer, and tech data roles.
What gave us pause
- Elite-firm gap. MBB and bulge brackets recruit lightly.
- Network geography. The magic fades past San Diego and Santa Barbara.
The verdict
Inside Southern California, Marshall's network makes it a top-ten school in practice; outside, it's a top-twenty-five school at a top-fifteen price. The online MBA and MSBA are the strongest entries in the catalog.
