Our review

Tuck is the purest version of the residential MBA: 285 students in Hanover, New Hampshire, most living within a few blocks, doing everything together for two years because there is nothing else to do. The output is an alumni network with the highest giving participation of any business school, decade after decade — a statistic that reads as trivia until you cold-email a Tuck alum and get a reply in an hour.

Consulting dominates the outcomes, taking around 40% of accepted offers in the 2025 employment report, with median base pay at $165,000 and 87% of seekers holding offers at three months. Firms like the product: polished generalists who have spent two years practicing teamwork because it was unavoidable.

What Tuck can’t offer is an industry on its doorstep. Every recruiting trip is a trip, tech hiring requires persistence, and students with working partners find Hanover a hard sell. You choose Tuck for the immersion, knowing the immersion is the point.

What impressed us

  • Alumni loyalty. Highest giving rate in the field, and it shows in reply rates.
  • Consulting yield. Roughly 40% of offers from consulting firms.
  • True immersion. One campus, one class, no commuters.

What gave us pause

  • Remote by design. Every employer visit or trek involves real travel.
  • Partner problem. Hanover offers working spouses very little.

The verdict

The strongest community-per-student ratio in business education, and a consulting springboard the equal of schools twice its size. Go if the two-year immersion appeals; skip it if you need a city, a partner-friendly job market, or doorstep tech recruiting.
