Our review

Supply chain is the franchise: Smeal’s program has sat at or near the top of U.S. News’s supply-chain specialty table for two decades, and the corporate partners who fund its research, from retailers to pharma distributors, hire its graduates as a matter of routine. The small MBA class rides that reputation plus the largest dues-paying alumni association in the country.

Happy Valley is remote even by college-town standards, which shapes everything: recruiting happens through treks and the network rather than employer visits. In-state costs around $66,000 keep the equation attractive for Pennsylvanians.

What impressed us

  • Supply-chain franchise. Two decades at the specialty's top table.
  • Network scale. Penn State's alumni base is the largest anywhere.

What gave us pause

  • True remoteness. University Park recruiting runs through treks.
  • Narrow spotlight. The program's fame concentrates in one function.

The verdict

A top-three supply-chain MBA wrapped in the country's largest alumni network. Everything else about the program is solid, small, and geographically patient.
