“Pittsburgh's other business school, priced for the city it serves.”

Our review
Katz lives across town from Carnegie Mellon and sensibly refuses the comparison: its market is the actual Pittsburgh economy — UPMC’s sprawling health system (the state’s largest private employer), PNC’s banking operations, and the industrial suppliers retooling for robotics and energy work. A one-year MBA option compresses cost further.
Placement in the low 80s and in-state totals near $68,000 make the value case; the health-management programming is the standout lane. The brand’s reach matches its ambitions: regional, practical, unglamorous, effective.
What impressed us
- UPMC pipeline. The state's largest employer hires next door.
- One-year option. Cost compression the market appreciates.
What gave us pause
- Tepper's shadow. The city's prestige lane lives elsewhere.
- Regional scope. The map is western Pennsylvania and its neighbors.
The verdict
The practical Pittsburgh MBA — health systems, banking operations, industrials — at half of Tepper's invoice. Know which of the two you're actually shopping for.
