California State University Bakersfield (CSUB) is a comprehensive regional university which is part of the California State University System comprised of 23 campuses. Bakersfield is located in Central California. It offers a safe environment and relatively low cost of living considering that it is quite close to the advantages of a big city.
Through its Extended University, CSUB offers additional educational opportunities such as its Teacher Education Certificate, summer programs, regional degree programs, Intensive English Language Center and various online programs. Its online programs promise personal and professional development through classes taken at the most convenient time of students. These programs include Bachelor and Master Degrees, Certificate Programs and Personal Enrichment Courses. Students can choose one of its online degree programs which consist of B.S. in Environmental Resource Management, M.S. Administration and M.A. in Education Curriculum and Instruction.
Tuition per unit cost $ 130.00 to $ 150.00 for undergraduate programs, $ 160.00 to $ 175.00 for graduate programs and $ 140.00 for credential programs. CSUB is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges-Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities (WASC-ACSCU). Additional accreditation has been given to most of its programs such as by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
Students are assisted by a university representative in the admissions process. All online programs are Federal financial aid-eligible. Although all coursework are done online, students can attend the commencement ceremonies at the CSUB campus. The university has earned recognition for ranking first among educational institutions in Greater Kern County for having the largest number of students enrolled in its graduate education program.
