It took popular 2004 documentary Super Size Me to point out to McDonald’s that allowing customers to “supersize” their meals might not be a good strategy for the company’s image. And while this isn’t a meal per se, we’re sure, like us, you’ve supersized at least once…
One of the massive offerings was an artery-blocking Super-Size “Double” Quarter Pounder, containing a whopping 2,746 calories and 220 grams of fat – that’s triple the amount of fat a grown man should consume in a single day and is equivalent to eating around five whole Pizza Hut deep-pan Hawaiian pizzas.
McDonald’s quietly phased out the Super Size option soon after the documentary was released.
