American InterContinental University (AIU)

American InterContinental University or AIU is an international profit-oriented university owned by Career Education Corporation. Founded in 1970, AIU has campuses in various locations in the United States including Atlanta, Georgia; South Florida; Houston, Texas; Los Angeles, California, as well as in London, England. In 2008, however, the Los Angeles campus announced plans to gradually close down due to the low student admission rate.

Accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, AIU offers a broad range of Associate, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degree programs. Its main mission is to provide its students with relevant and current industry knowledge and skills that will help them in their pursuit of their individual careers.

To insure that every student wanting to pursue higher learning from AIU is able to do so, the university established its online program in 2001. AIU Online is a web-based virtual campus that offers quality online education for students interested to pursue their Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degrees but are unable to do so because of work or distance.

Online degree programs offered by AIU Online include Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Design, Education, and Information Technology. Total program cost for these degree programs which includes tuition and software and course materials is US$23,450 for Associate of Arts in Business Administration; US$32,000 for Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Information Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice; US$32,540 for Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication; US$29,474 for Master of Business Administration and Master of Information Technology; and US$22,370 for Master of Education.
