Facebook has revealed that one billion people logged into the social network on a single day last week.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg send an email to employees to alert them of the major milestone.

Facebook is nearing 1.5 billion users which meant it was only a matter of time before the social network reached the new and impressive milestone.

Facebook also revealed that it averaged 968 million daily active users for the entire month of June.

Zuckerberg wrote:

“We made this video to celebrate all you’ve done to help our community connect one billion people in a single day. It’s an amazing milestone. I hope you enjoy.”

With more than 1 in 7 people around the world now on Facebook the social network has placed its sights on emerging markets such as India, a region with more than 500 million internet users.
